Meet Jo Robinson; Freelance Copywriter, Owner, Senior Writer, and ‘Queen Bee’ of Words and the Bees.
“Like most people, I knew from a young age that I was put on this earth to make a difference in people’s lives. Possibly unlike most people; it took me a very long time to figure out how I could do that!
It was while I was moonlingting as a freelance copywriter in my spare time, and searching, that I realised I’d already found my channel and what I was looking for had been right in front of me all along. Answers to most of life’s questions often are; you just need to connect the dots.
With six years’ experience in the not-for-profit sector my heart lies with organisations which make an extraordinary difference to the lives of ordinary people. If I can use my written words as a freelance copywriter to help not-for-profits and small businesses raise their profile, increase their income, and have more of an impact on more people, I know I’ve done a good day’s work.
I have an Upper Second Class Honours degree in Applied Social Science and I have a huge passion for the human mind and understanding what makes people act the way they do. As a copywriter, I’m able to tap into and apply that knowledge every day to use it for the good of your business and in turn, the wider community.
Originally from the UK, I’ve lived on the Gold Coast since 2008 where I run Words and the Bees. As a business in it’s infancy, we’re going from strength to strength extremely quickly and I’m looking forward to welcoming you aboard.

Ten things you need to know about Words and the Bees:
1) Words are our passion.
The way words are spoken, written and read can leave a lasting impact on someone and encourage great change in the world. The power of words, when used correctly, never ceases to amaze us, and we’re excited to be in an industry where we can use our words to create something special every single day.
2) We take our content very seriously.
To have the Words and the Bees name attached to your content means that you can guarantee that it will be well-written, engaging and of the highest standard possible.
3) All work receives the Queen Bee seal of approval before being sent to the client.
Our Senior Writer approves all content before it goes out of the electronic door. You can be sure that you are receiving a personal service dedicated entirely to meeting your needs and that you will have a personal point of contact for any follow-up if required.
4) We are located on the Gold Coast in Australia.
Which isn’t particularly relevant but we do like to share with people how lucky we are! Being able to work remotely means that wherever in the world you are, you can still receive the benefit of our service. Just send us an email and we can liaise that way.
5) We love to make a difference!
Many organisations are doing remarkable work in the world today, and we are proud to use our content creation skills as an avenue to support this. We love working with not-for-profits and organisations which are truly making a difference to people’s lives.
6) There is no such thing as ‘that’ll do’ with our work.
While the ability to work under pressure is a must, we will never compromise on quality. We care about our words and will always take the necessary time and effort to nurture your project into becoming the best possible content to fit your needs.
7) We began life in the UK.
We emigrated to the Gold Coast in 2008 and have never been warmer, I mean happier.
8) Our professional experience is full and varied.
In addition to freelance copywriting, we have extensive work experience in retail, customer service, real estate, forensics, and professional fundraising. Our varied skill set gained through a range of roles enhances the quality of our writing and creative output.
9) We have spent many years in a corporate environment.
Much of our working life has so far been spent in a pressured, corporate environment. Boardroom meetings, deadlines and making to-do lists at 2 am are no stranger to us. While working in often stressful situations has given us invaluable experience of working within time constraints which is necessary for us to complete your project on time, we are thrilled to now be in an environment where creativity is key.
10) We are well-educated.
With a Bachelor of Honours in Applied Social Science and a multitude of Professional Development courses under our belts, we are always grabbing new opportunities to learn, both formally and informally, with both hands.
